The Role:

We are currently recruiting for two volunteer teaching or classroom assistants to support teachers by helping to supervise activities in the classroom, working with students on an individual, small group or whole class basis. Some teaching assistants work on a one-to-one basis with children with special educational needs.

Depending on the qualification level, the teaching assistants may take on additional responsibilities such as teaching classes on their own, covering planned absences and allowing teachers time to plan and mark. They may also manage other learning support and report on students’ progress.

​

Main Responsibilities:

• Supporting children across the curriculum, often with a particular focus on maths, reading and writing

• Helping to develop programmes of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials

• Motivating and encouraging pupils

• Assisting with marking and correcting work

• To support the personal and educational development of young people who have a range of challenges, so they can achieve their full potential

• To support the students’ through 1-1 and small group work.

• To uphold policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, GDPR Policy, Equality and Diversity Policy, Data Protection.​

• An Enhanced DBS check/certificate will be required

• Good Computer skills, confident using Microsoft applications

 

Essentials:

• Interest or experience in working in a classroom environment

• Interest in Beauty Therapy (a benefit, but not essential)

• Excellent communication and listening skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate positively and in a non-discriminatory way to people at all levels, from a range of backgrounds and communities, with and without disabilities

• Experience dealing with challenging behaviour

• Understanding of confidentiality
